Founded in 2021 by Luke Townsend, New Leaf Foods brings nearly two decades of expertise in bio-based food ingredients and the plant-based sector. Luke’s career began in processed meat production before pivoting to plant-based innovation, spending ten years with DuPont Nutrition & Health (formerly Solae/Danisco, now part of IFF), where he worked closely with customers to create meat alternatives using soy protein.
As the industry evolved, Luke joined a pioneering San Francisco-based start-up, deepening his knowledge in plant-based nutrition by working with Chlorella microalgae— an ingredient now gaining recognition for its nutritional, functional, and sustainability benefits. He also developed expertise with Schizochytrium, the key source of plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids.
Today, New Leaf Foods represents a portfolio of ingredient suppliers across the UK and Ireland, acting as both agent and distributor. Ingredient sales and logistics are handled through our BRC AA-certified joint venture partner, Andina Ingham Ltd.
In addition to ingredient supply, we work with a range of clients on consultancy projects—supporting go-to-market strategy, product development, and protein innovation. Our portfolio includes, Omega-3, coating systems, cereal ingredients, European gums and plant proteins from Pea, Soy, Sunflower, Chlorella and Faba.
